DS80F Dual-Speed Personal Hubs provide the performance of a 100Mb switched fibre link upstream with the convenience of dual-speed 10/100 copper ports for workplace LAN connections, all in one compact unit about the size of a paperback book. Where “future-proof” fibre cabling is installed in the building infrastructure to a wall plate or jack in each office, lab, classroom or small workgroup area, the DS80F-series enables 10/100 copper-cable devices to be economically connected. No media converter is required.
Designed for use in an individual’s multi-system office, or to support a small workgroup, a remote office or a classroom, the DS80F and DS80C are easy to install and use. Addresses of attached nodes are automatically learned and maintained, adapting the switching services to network changes and expansions to provide plug-and-play operation. Flow control maximizes throughput across all ports. Top-mounted LEDs provide status information on each port.
A DS80F Personal Hub has one full-duplex 100MB switched fibre port, one “N-way” switched RJ-45 port and six half-duplex 10/100 autonegotiating RJ-45 ports. While the switched fibre port is typically for a backbone connection, the switched RJ-45 port can be used at 100Mb FDX for a high-performance workplace server or to cascade to another DS80- series unit for expansion.
The DS80Fs 100Mb FDX fibre port supports full distance fibre LAN cabling, and is typically connected to a rack-mount fibre switch (such as the Quad-Series fibre Switches) in a wiring closet upstream. The fibre port is available with a multi-mode ST, SC, or MTRJ-type connector, or with a single-mode SC-type (to support either 20 or 40 kilometres). For applications where the fibre port is not needed, the DS80C model substitutes a second full-duplex copper port for the fibre port. The DS80-series Dual-Speed Personal Hubs include an external power supply unit for 115 or 230vac, a rugged metal case and metal mounting brackets suitable for wall mounting. The DS80-series Personal Hubs and the other high quality products are backed by a three-year warranty.
DS880
FEATURES
- Provides eight RJ-45 ports per stackable hub, each port speed-sensing for 100 or 10Mb
- Combines both 100Mb and 10Mb port speeds with stackability for expansion and flexibility in offices and labs
- Supports stacks of up to 3 units for a maximum of 24 10/100 Ethernet ports
- Complies with 100BASE-T and 10BASE-T Ethernet standards; full 100Mb Class II + repeater functionality
- Comes with a durable metal enclosure, internal auto-ranging power supply; NEBS certification
DS880 Stackable Hubs provide the flexibility of 100Mb and 10Mb Ethernet ports in one hub along with the expandability of stacking. Small-to-medium-sized networks that need to mix ports at 100Mb performance for high bandwidth applications with economical 10Mb ports for other nodes can benefit from the dual-speed 10/100 DS880 hubs.
Network chip technology enables the DS880 hubs to identify either 100Mb or 10Mb signals on a per-port basis. Each RJ-45 port is independently auto-sensing for speed, adapting to match the speed of the connected device. Each port can change from 10Mb to 100Mb (or vice-versa) at any time without affecting the operation of the other connected ports. This capability provides the ultimate in flexibility for small-to-medium-sized mixed-speed networks that are gradually transitioning from 10Mb to 100Mb Fast Ethernet speed.
The DS880 units support two shared traffic domains, one at 100Mb and one at 10Mb. Each port is connected into the appropriate 100Mb or 10Mb domain, depending on its speed as sensed. As DS880 stacked units are added, the two domains automatically expand to serve the new ports, up to the three-unit-high stacking capability of the system. Any combination of 100Mb or 10Mb ports may be in use.
One model of the DS880-series hubs includes an internal switch or bridge to interconnect the two shared traffic domains, enabling all users on a DS880 stack, whether 100Mb or 10Mb, to talk to each other. This self-learning switch filters and selectively forwards packets between the two traffic domains, unifying them. The performance of each domain is maintained at its peak potential, uncompromised by local traffic on the other domain. Only one DS880 with an internal switch unit is necessary to support the entire stack. The eight-port DS880 hubs have an internal auto-ranging power supply. They can be conveniently mounted in the workplace or in a wiring closet area. The DS880 Stackable Hubs and other products are designed and manufactured in the USA and backed by a three-year warranty.
DS8016
FEATURES

DS8016 Stackable Hubs provide the flexibility of 100Mb and 10Mb Ethernet ports in one hub along with the expandability of stacking. Medium-sized networks that need to mix ports at 100Mb performance for high bandwidth applications with economical 10Mb ports for other nodes can benefit from the domain-switched dual-speed 10/100 DS8016's.
Dual-speed network chip technology enables the DS8016 Dual-Speed hubs to identify and accept either 100Mb or 10Mb signals on a per-port basis. Each RJ-45 port is independently auto-sensing for speed, adapting at the time of LINK-enable to match the speed of the connected device. This capability provides the ultimate in flexibility for small-to-medium sized mixed-speed networks that are gradually transitioning from 10Mb Ethernet to 100Mb Fast Ethernet speed.
The DS8016 Dual-Speed units support two shared traffic domains, one at 100Mb and one at 10Mb. Each port is connected into the appropriate 100Mb or 10Mb domain, depending on its speed as sensed. Any combination of 100Mb or 10Mb ports may be in use.
The B- models of the DS8016 Domain-Switched hubs include an internal switch or bridge to interconnect the two shared traffic domains, enabling all users on a DS8016 stack, whether 100Mb or 10Mb, to talk to each other. This self-learning switch filters and selectively forwards packets between the two traffic domains, unifying them. Each domain’s performance is maintained at its peak potential, unaffected by local traffic on the other domain. Only one DS8016 with an internal switch unit is necessary to support the entire stack.
The DS8016 is also available in “Reverse” models with front-mounted LEDs, rear ports and power connection. The DS8016 stackable hub and other products are made in the USA and are backed by a three-year warranty.
