Industrial Ethernet Training

GarrettCom Europe now offers two training courses in Industrial Ethernet, aimed at giving engineers a thorough grounding in this networking technology. The courses are hardware-independent and manufacturer-independent, and have been developped by experts in the technology to equip engineers with all the knowledge they need to specify, install and maintain Ethernet networks in industrial applications.

Two courses are available, both aimed at meeting the needs of systems engineers, support technicians, systems integrators, consultants, or anyone migrating to an Industrial Ethernet network

'Industrial Ethernet – The Principles' provides all the information engineers need to get started in Industrial Ethernet. The course looks at: Ethernet basics; the OSI 7-layer model; an in-depth discussion of layer 2 of the OSI model; the data link layer; application protocols; managing TCP/IP networks; standards; power over Ethernet (PoE); and security.

The second course, 'Industrial Ethernet – Advanced', assumes a background knowledge of Ethernet to a level provided by the 'Principles' course, and goes on to explore issues including: switching (VLANS, STP, RSTP, S-Ring, QoS); multicasting (IGMP, and IGMP L2 compared with routers); TCP/IP in detail; security; managing TCP/IP networks; fault finding; and wireless systems.
