GarrettCom Europe Celebrates Iinstallation of the 100,000th Power Utility Media Converter
A major sales milestone in GarrettCom’s 20th anniversary year.
Not only is 2009 GarrettCom’s 20th anniversary year, it has also seen the company achieve the significant milestone of installing the 100,000th Dymec Link. Specifically designed for power industry networking applications, Dymec Links are substation-hardened media converters and repeaters that provide reliable serial data connectivity in harsh environments where signal isolation and immunity to noise are critical.
Fibre media for signal transmission has long been the norm in power utility installations, where the characteristic high levels of electromagnetic noise compromises other media types. Dymec Links are relied upon the world over to move data around power utility substations, with high levels of accuracy and reliability and over distances of up to 5000m in multi-mode operation or up to 30km in single-mode operation. They form the basis of highly scalable data networks with minimum electrical signal exposure.
As well as providing a fibre infrastructure for reliable signal transmission, Dymec Links are physically hardened for use in substation environments. They meet all relevant standards for power industry use, feature a rugged metal construction, and are designed to operate over an extended temperature range. For the highest levels of reliability and longevity, the PC boards are conformally coated.
